Personal Journey and Motivation
Since I was a teenager, I had a profound interest in psychology, healing, and spirituality. As a teenager, I pursued other subjects such as biology, law, and audiovisual mediums, which took me away from my initial calling for a while. However, the allure of psychology and healing persisted, and I eventually realized that it was my true calling. The love for what I do, the desire to be my own boss, and the freedom to organize my own schedule and life are the main factors that motivated me to start this business and have kept me doing this work. Since I started in 2013, I have made many changes in the way I provide my services. As I grow and evolve as a human being, my service and organization also evolve. For example, I began with one-on-one counseling and hypnotherapy sessions, and as I studied and trained in other healing modalities like EFT, Tai Chi, and CBT, I started adding and combining those modalities within my sessions. I also wrote a book about Mindful Eating, which led to the creation of a program based on it that I still facilitate in person and online. Gradually, I started facilitating workshops and small retreats.
Accomplishments and Success Stories
One of my biggest accomplishments as a business leader is simply maintaining my organization for over 10 years as a self-employed woman. The courage and belief in oneself required to navigate the challenges and uncertainties are immense, especially in the field of Mind-Body-Soul health, healing, and consciousness where carving a new path and offering a unique service can be difficult. Financial challenges have been particularly tough in this field, as the focus on love and service can sometimes overshadow the importance of material gains. However, I have done everything in my power to stay true to myself, my service, and that love no matter what, opening new roads in a world where things have been done in a certain way for far too long. This ongoing accomplishment is something I take great pride in.
Leadership Style and Approach
I would describe my leadership style as conscious leadership. I believe in respecting and empowering those I lead. A good leader helps you believe in yourself and become the leader of your own decisions. I do not believe in using power over others; instead, I strive to empower others. As the leader of my organization, it is my responsibility to have clear values and boundaries, ensuring that there is clarity in all communications with others. Honest communication is crucial in any partnership or relationship. I am not there to tell others exactly what to do and how to do it. Instead, I provide clarity in my intent, boundaries, and values, and if someone is working with me, it is because we share those values and are mutually committed to learning and growing. I give space, trust, and flexibility to individuals to do their part while being available to provide help, guidance, teaching, and correction when needed.
Differentiation Strategies and Initiatives
My primary strategy is to stay true to myself, authentic, and have integrity in all that I do. I believe in connecting with people and my clients as equals, approaching each partnership as a cooperation. This mindset applies to co-workers, client-therapist relationships, teacher-student interactions, and creator-follower connections. Honesty, compassion, and clear communication play essential roles in fostering successful relationships. Another initiative that sets me apart is my openness to accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment for my services, which I believe is not common in my field.
Challenging Situation and Positive Outcome
I have faced a couple of significant financial challenges in the past that made me question everything and consider giving up. The struggle between pursuing my passion and the need for financial stability was a difficult one. However, I learned that it’s okay to ask for help and sometimes even ask for money. Embracing vulnerability and allowing others to support me in overcoming obstacles enabled me to grow as a person and as a woman, as well as a therapist, teacher, and leader.
Guiding Values and Principles
The key values and principles that guide my decision-making process as a business leader are honesty, integrity, service, cooperation, sensitivity, effectiveness, professionalism, loyalty, growth, creativity, trust, authenticity, personal freedom, and personal responsibility.
Staying Informed and Industry Knowledge
While I do not actively seek out the latest trends, I come across some by accident while posting content on social media. I attended a business course a couple of years ago that provided me with valuable insights on social media strategies and program structuring, which has helped my business grow. However, my decision-making process is primarily based on internal factors such as intuition, soul, heart, or spirit. I find that external trends can sometimes be distracting rather than helpful. I focus on creating from my unique essence and trusting my inner guidance.
Factors Contributing to Success
Honesty, persistence, consistency, discipline, self-belief, supportive and honest people around me, good intentions, clear communication, and learning from those with more experience have all played significant roles in my success as a business leader.
Future Aspirations and Market Evolution
I am currently undergoing a significant transformation in how I want to deliver my services. My next professional step involves becoming an author and providing larger retreats. While I will continue to offer one-on-one sessions for clients, I am moving towards fulfilling my passion for writing and incorporating my experiences in the field of healing and psychology into my writings. I also enjoy sharing and teaching what I have learned, so facilitating classes and retreats focused on improving overall health and life remains an important aspect of my future aspirations.
Accolades and Industry Recognition
I was offered the cover of the CIO magazine and received a certificate as recognition for my contributions to the field. Additionally, I have been invited as a guest speaker at local summits in Trinidad and Tobago to talk about mental and emotional health.
